Meet the Team

Emily Stanford

My coaching philosophy centers around the idea that exercise in any form should always bring us into deeper connection with ourselves. While my primary focus for many years has been barbell training and Olympic weightlifting, I’ve also explored everything from circuit training and kettlebell work to CrossFit and yoga. My coaching experience spans nearly fifteen years and is supported by numerous professional certifications, including NSCA CSCS, CrossFit Level One, Starting Strength Coach, and USAW Level One.

My formal education began at Western Washington University, where I earned a degree in Kinesiology and Sport Psychology. From there I spent nine years at Fulcrum Training Hall, gaining extensive hands-on experience with programming, technical refinement, client relationships, and facility operations as well as exposure to an incredible variety of clients. My time there was deeply influential in shaping the approach I use and the philosophies that my style is grounded in.

In 2023 I stepped away from coaching to re-discover why I started down this path in the first place - using my physical body to explore wild places by hiking, skiing, biking, and paddle boarding. This hiatus brought me full circle back to strength training. I spent time coaching part-time at CrossFit Issaquah, Toa Cycle Studio, and Wild Rose Yoga, each experience helping me to rediscover a deep love for the craft of coaching.

My time outside the fitness industry reinforced my belief that the ability to interact with our physical world is central to the human experience. I believe that in developing physical strength and capacity, we can improve our quality of life and our connection to both self and others. I use creative and innovative strategies, rooted in the fundamentals of barbell training, to meet any client where they are at and walk with them to the next stage of development.

I am excited to dive back into coaching full-time and to share my depth of knowledge, passion for movement, and enthusiasm for health and fitness with the Cle Elum and Roslyn communities! Teanaway Training Hall is intended to be a safe space for exploring the edges of physical capacity and creating a community rooted in positivity, connection, and strength - both physical and mental. I invite you to join me in bringing this vision to life.

Gym Dog

Toby

Toby is a three year old cattle dog mix. His main responsibilities at the Training Hall include greeting you at the door, sniffing around, and eating treats. He would love to connect with you, but ignoring him is also totally ok.
